The Problem
There was a misalignment of language between design and development teams on our flagship product and lacked a visual & functional reference guide that made sense to everyone. This was key because the product would quickly change and iterations would be made on both sides which made for inconsistencies throughout versions.
Designs would also change depending on client data requirements and require ongoing maintenance.
The People
We aimed to lighten the labor load on our design and development teams while still providing a visually appealing & clear experience. We wanted to provide a best-in-class experience for our clients’ end-user. This required us to be strategic about the content for each module.
Research Insights
A misalignment of language between design and developers was causing an inability to make changes quickly. Making bulk change easily was essential due to the large number of Fin Apps (individual modules).
As new Fin Apps were created, designers and developers needed a reference for components that were used more than once.
The designs needed to be devoid of any style or branding as these hundreds of app frames needed to be ready to take on unique client branding

Style & Component Examples
My team and I ensured that all components and styles were documented & easy to understand. We also wanted to use Figma to build components that designers could easily swap out while understanding the variables that were available to them.
Ability to have designs occupy different styles
Having Fin Apps designs be able to adapt to different client’s brand was essential. Before shipping the product, tests were done with every Fin App to ensure smooth brand adoption.
Much of this was keeping current with software updates from Figma and relaying that to the team.
